Bermuda Billfish Blast

The 3-day Bermuda Billfish Blast is a release only three day tournament with Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Spearfish and Sailfish eligible for release points.

IFGA rules apply for the Bermuda Billfish Blast. All teams must provide their own digital still or video cameras to verify releases. Teams are awarded 500 points for every blue marlin release, two hundred points for every white marlin release and one hundred points for every white spearfish or sailfish release.

Bermuda Billfish Blast Tournament Fishing Tips

  • Check the Buoyweather.com for 7 day wind and swell forecasts for Bermuda. This will give you a good idea of what conditions to expect and where to fish during the tournament.

  • Blue Marlin can often be found feeding close to the surface in water temperatures between 72 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Check SST and Altimetry charts to find temperature breaks within the tournament boundary. Current breaks hold bait and serve as natural migratory pathways for bait and the Pelagics that feed on them

  • Lure fishing, as well as teaser/dropback fishing are both methods that have been used successfully to win the Bermuda Billfish Blast.

  • Tournament participants must use non-offset circle hooks while competing in the Bermuda Billfish Blast.
